CEO Weekly – Bridging the AI-Voice Gap

CEO Weekly article

Artificial intelligence is conquering the voiceover market—fast, scalable, but often ineffective. According to VOX-OVER founders Markus Löhr and Trevor Hurst, the problem lies not in the technology itself, but in the lack of emotional alignment. "Many brands are finding that AI-generated voices are fast, but the message often doesn't come across as intended," explains Hurst, who has 30 years of audio expertise.

"You may use advanced technologies and AI, but without emotional resonance, the message will not get across."

VOX-OVER's solution: a hybrid voice model that combines human audio performance with AI-powered tools. The company works directly with professional voice talent, licenses their voices, and uses them to create AI models. "This provides legal certainty for customers and is ethically sustainable because voice talent are remunerated and involved instead of being replaced," says Löhr.
In practice, this means maximum flexibility: brands can start with live recordings to establish emotional tone and brand identity, and then use the licensed AI model for updates—without having to book the studio again. The model also enables multilingual productions under a unified framework, where tonality, tempo, and intent remain consistent across languages.
VOX-OVER's core thesis: The future of voice does not belong solely to machines, but to those who understand both worlds and know when each is most effective.
